PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deodorant, having sure deodorant effects on disulfides such as a garlic odor or an onion odor and useful for removal, etc., of halitosis after a meal by hot-air drying of a fresh leaf of Symphytum officinale (comfrey) at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed time and treating the dried leaf under specific conditions. SOLUTION: A fresh leaf of Symphytum officinale is dried with hot air at 50-90 deg.C for 10-15 hr to provide a dried leaf of the Symphytum officinale. The resultant dried leaf is then powdered with a powdering machine to afford a green leaf dried powder of the Symphytum officinale. The resultant powder is tableted to provide a deodorant of the Symphytum officinale. A deodorant substance is preferably extracted from the dried powder of the Symphytum officinale with ethanol and concentrated to afford an extracted essence of the Symphytum officinale. A throat candy or a chewing gum is preferably produced by mixing 0.5-10% extracted essence therewith.
