PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detection apparatus by which a crack in the measurement of the property of a road surface can be detected without a need of traffic restriction, quickly and with high accuracy. ;SOLUTION: Road-surface images are acquired at every constant time by a CCD camera 1 which is carried on a vehicle 12, and the images are recorded on a storage medium 5. In addition, distance data from a range finder 4 is recorded on a storage medium 6 by a computer 3 at the acquisition timing of the image. Then, the image which is recorded on the storage medium 5 is reproduced by a VTR 8, and the overlap amount of every reproduced image is computed by a computer 7 on the basis of the corresponding distance data stored in the storage medium 6. In an image editing/processing device 9, on the basis of every road surface image which is reproduced by the VTR 8 and on the basis of the overlap amount which is computer by the computer 7 so as to correspond to the image, an overlap part is cut off from the road-surface image, the road-surface image is edited, a continuous road-surface image is acquired, the image is processed, and a crack on a road surface is detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
