PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tansgenic plant of a rice plant capable of regulating the expression with an α-amylase promoter and mass-producing a gene product by infecting an immature embryo of the rice plant with a bacterium of the genus Agrobacterium for transformation and treating the infected embryo under specific conditions.;SOLUTION: An immature embryo of a rice plant is infected with a bacterium of the genus Agrobacterium for transformation such as Agrobacterium tumefaciens and the infected embryo is simultaneously cultured with a suspended cultured product of a dicotyledonous plant such as a potato suspension cultured product during the transformation stage to grow a transformed embryo in a selective culture medium containing an amount of a plant growth hormone such as 4-fluorophenoxyacetic acid(4-FPA) sufficient to grow the rice plant into a callus. The callus cultured in a regenerated culture medium containing a prescribed amount of nutrients for growth of the rice plant is regenerated into a root and a bud. Thereby, a transgenic plant of the rice plant having a chimera gene containing a promoter domain operably connected to a sequence encoding a desired gene product is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
