PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the image forming device the carries a medium via a curved document path or a flat document path by providing a 1st document path that discharges a document to the multi-function opening for scanning a medium of paper type or other type than the paper type and a 2nd document path that discharges the document to a document exit. SOLUTION: A 1st document path is made up of an ADF pickup roller 15, a guide 12, a reversible roller 17, sensors s3-s1, and an image sensor 16. A 2nd document path 13 for operating a reversible scanning is made up of the guide 12, the reversible roller 17, the sensors s2, s1 and the image sensor 16. Part of a range of the 1st document path 11 and part of a range of the 2nd document path 13 are overlapped with each other as an overlapped path. Then the multi-function opening acts like a document exit when the user selects the 1st document path 11 and acts like a document entrance when the user selects the 2nd document path 13.
