PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plug body for a vacuum specimen collection vessel which is excellent in productivity and the characteristic to maintain the decompression degree in a specimen collection vessel and is excellent in needle tube impalement property and needle hole sealability. SOLUTION: This plug body is freely attachably and detachably fitted into the opening end of the specimen collection vessel and is airtightly fitted into the opening end of the specimen collection vessel in such a manner that a decompressed state may be maintained in the specimen collection vessel. The plug body, thereupon, has a gripping part 2, a needle tube impalement part 3 which has rubber elasticity and is so disposed as to fill the through-hole 2c of the gripping part 2 and a rubber-like elastic fitting part 4 which is airtightly fitted into the opening end in follow up to the shape of the inside surface at the opening end of the specimen collection vessel. The gripping part 2 has the rigidity higher than the rigidity of the needle tube impalement part 3 and the fitting part 4. The inside surface 2d in the annular side wall part 2a of the gripping part 2 is provided with at least one projecting part 2e or recessed part of preventing a kick-back.
