PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submerged are welding method capable of welding an ultra-heavy steel plate of ≥80 mm in thickness with one single side passage of a multi-electrode by appropriately determining a groove shape and a welding current value so as not to generate any welding defects. ;SOLUTION: A groove angle of a weld joint is 28-38°, a root face R is 0-25% of a thickness (t), a groove sectional area S satisfies inequalities of 18×t≤S≥22×t, and a welding current I of a preceding electrode 1 satisfies inequalities of 300×t1/2≤I≤350 ×t1/2, and an ultra-heavy steel plate 10 of ≥80 mm in thickness is submerged arc welded with one single side passage of a multi-electrode.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
