PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive ferrous sintered alloy material for a valve seat safe for the human body and excellent in wear resistance and to provide a valve seat made of a ferrous sintered alloy for an internal combustion engine. ;SOLUTION: Into the base phase composed of a pearlitic phase of, by volume, 5 to 40%, 20 to 60% carbide dispersed phase in which fine carbides are dispersed and 5 to 20% high alloy diffused phase, hard particles having 700 to 1,300 Hv hardness are dispersed by 3 to 20%. As the hard particles, one or more kinds selected from the intermetallic compd. particles of Mo-Ni-Cr-Si-Co, the intermetallic compd. particles of Cr-Mo-Co and Fe-Mo alloy particles are preferably used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
