PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject conjugate showing high reactivity to a double- stranded target nucleic acid by reacting a single-stranded nucleic acid probe specimen with a Reed-like recombinant enzyme in the presence of a difficultly decomposable nucleotide cofactor having a specific number of molecules. SOLUTION: The objective high performance RecA-like recombinant enzyme/ one-stranded nucleic acid probe conjugate having high reactivity and specificity to a double-stranded target nucleic acid in a specimen is obtained by reacting a single-stranded nucleic acid probe specimen including a homoprobe with a RecA-like recombinant enzyme in the presence of a difficultly decomposable nucleotide cofactor having a number of molecules which equals to =1/4 number of nucleotide residues constituting the one-stranded nucleic acid probe and to =10 times the number of molecules of RecA-like recombinant enzyme. The nucleic acid probe conjugate is useful for targeting, concentrating and/or isolating, etc., of the double-stranded target nucleic acid in a specimen.
