PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent that fine drops generated by the jet streams of a liquid are carried by upwardly flowing gas. SOLUTION: The distributor for a packed column is equipped with at least one tubular or trough-shaped distribution member having an outflow port 12 for allowing a liquid to flow out as jet streams. A barrier 6 is arranged in front of the outflow port 12 and the jet streams of the incident liquid is deformed into film like thin streams of the liquid on the barrier 6 to flow away. The outflow port 12 is shielded from upwardly flowing air streams 4. When the liquid flows out maximaly, the jet streams of the liquid are incident on the barrier 6 at an angle (α) less than 60 deg., preferably less than 10 deg..
