PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the horizontal gain of a microstrip antenna. ;SOLUTION: A patch-shaped radiation conductor 11 radiating circular polarization is formed on the surface of a dielectric substrate 10 and a ground conductor 13 is formed on the rear surface. A planar element 16 is formed on a circumferential side surface that almost orthogonally crosses the radiation conductor 11 of an insulation cylinder 15 having almost the same diameter as the dielectric substrate 10 and the cylinder 15 is arranged on the rear surface of the substrate 10. The upper end of the element 16 is electrically connected to the ground conductor 13. Thus, the planar element 16 equivalently expands the area of the ground conductor 13 and also radiates electromagnetic waves to improve horizontal gain.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
