PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable two subscribers, e.g. who are talking with each other from begining to visually comprehend the still image of a 3rd subscriber who joined in the speech, when two-subscriber talking is changed to three-subscriber talking by displaying a previously stored party still image on a terminal equipment for handling images. ;SOLUTION: Each of a self-terminal 101 and an opposite terminal 102 to be visual telephone systems is constituted of a negotiation control part 103, an image processing part 104, an image capturing part 105, an image display part 106, a display generation part 107, a sound processing part 108, a sound input part 109, a sound output part 100, a multiplexing part 111, a line I/F part 112, a still image storing part 113, a storage control part 114, a line fault detection part 115, an image difference information detection part 116, a control signal deciding part 117, and a display control part 118, so that a means capable of displaying a proper still image, when a circuit fault occurs or two-subscriber talking is changed into three-subscriber talking can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
