PURPOSE: To make it possible to simply register data in a telephone directory database by a visual telephone system. ;CONSTITUTION: Information such as the name, telephone number and address of a communicating party which are supplied through a line by inter-user information informing sevice, a caller's number informing sevice, or the like is stored in a received information storing means 103 and the stored information is read out from the means 103 by the operation of a registration instructing means 108 and registered in the telephone directory database. A picture processing means 104 prepares a face icon from the received information and registers the icon in the telephone directory database.
