PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sizing agent for carbon fiber, having excellent process passage properties and opening properties by preparing a mixture of ethylene oxide adducts of bisphenol type compounds. ;SOLUTION: A compound A of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or an alkyl; j and k are each an integer of ≥1 and j+k is 14-40) is formulated with a compound B of formula II (R3 and R4 are each H or an alkyl; m and n are each an integer of ≥1 and m+n is 54-100) in the weight ratio (A/B) of 2/1 to 1/2 to give a sizing agent for carbon fiber. A carbon fiber is treated with an aqueous solution of the sizing agent and the surface of the fiber is provided with 0.2-40 wt.%, preferably 0.3-30 wt.% of the sizing agent. The fiber is sized and made into a sheetlike material. A carbon fiber-reinforced resin composition comprising the sheetlike material as a reinforcing material is molded to give a fiber reinforced composite material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
