CATALYST FOR SYNTHESIZING OXYGEN-CONTAINING COMPOUND AND SYNTHESIS OF OXYGEN-CONTAINING COMPOUND USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize 2C or more oxygen-containing compd. in a good yield by a catalyst, for synthesizing an oxygen-containing compd. by hydrogenating carbon monoxide, obtained by supporting superfine particles of palladium on a silica gel and characterized by that the average particle size of the superfine particles of palladium is set to a specific range so that a specific ratio or more of the particles size of palladium is distributed at least a specific range. ;SOLUTION: A catalyst for synthesizing 2C or more oxygen-containing compd. such as ethanol or acetaldehyde by hydrogenating carbon monoxide is obtained by supporting superfine particles of palladium on a silica gel and the average particle size M of the superfine particles of palladium is set to 2-4 nm and 80% or more of the particle size of palladium is distributed within a particle size range of 0.8-1.2 M. This catalyst is prepared by using a microemulsion comprising a hexanol/polyoxyethylene [average addition mol number (n)=23] dodecyl ether/PdCl2 hydrochloric aq. soln. free from an external aq. phase.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
