PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain leucine amino peptidase gene which codes for a protein (1) which has a specific amino acid sequence and (2) which has a leucine amino peptidase activity, and can be used, for example, for the production of the leucine amino peptidase useful, for example, for the production of foods such as seasonings and samples for protein engineering. ;SOLUTION: This is a new leucine amino peptidase gene which codes for a protein which has the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, or an amino acid sequence which one or more amino acid(s) is/are deleted from, substituted in, or inserted into the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, and codes for a protein such as a protein having a leucine amino peptidase activity, and is useful, for example, for the production of the leucine amino peptidase useful, for example, for the production of foods such as seasonings and samples for protein engineering. The gene is obtained by isolating genomic DNA from Aspergillus sojae strain 1-190 (FERM BP-6349), preparing a genomic DNA library using the obtained genomic DNA, followed by screening the obtained library using a probe obtained from a partial sequence of the leucine amino peptidase gene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
