SOLUTION: With respect to an array type optical modulation element 35 where optical modulation parts 33 having flexible thin films 27 are arranged one-dimensionally or two-dimensionally and flexible thin films 27 are deformed by an electrostatic stress so as to change the transmittance of light passing the flexible thin films 27, each of areas (m) into which one picture element S is divided is provided with the optical modulation part 33.
