PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the engine temperature, in an air-cooled engine having no cooling water. ;SOLUTION: A lubricating system for lubricating a valve system 22 arranged in a cylinder head 14 of an air-cooled engine E is provided with oil supplying passages L1 to L6 for supplying oil from an oil pan provided on the bottom part of a crankcase 12 to the cylinder head 14, an oil returning passage L7 for returning oil from the cylinder head 14 to the oil pan, and an oil pump 45 provided on the way between the oil supplying passages L1 to L6. A temperature sensor 48 for detecting the temperature of oil is arranged on the oil returning passage L7 formed on a cylinder block 13, and the oil temperature detected by the temperature sensor 48 is used as a central value of the engine temperature.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
