PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for semantic analysis which shorten the execution time of analysis by specifying a deep-structure case needed for later key word extraction and generating a semantic structure having a minimum necessary size without analyzing the semantics in other unnecessary deep- structure cases and lighten the load of processing system maintenance by showing the flow of analysis explicitly and to provide recording medium storing the semantic analysis program. SOLUTION: It is decided (S1) whether the object of analysis is a verbal phrase having a verb as a subject, a non-verbal phrase having mainly a noun as a subject or a part of speech by referring to analysis object section classification knowledge included in information which is appended to the analyzed object and is a sub-classification of a phrase. When the analyzed object is a verbal phrase, the relation between the verb and the deep-structure case is analyzed (S2) and when the analyzed object is a non-verbal phrase, the modification relation including a nominal phrase and an adjectival phrase is analyzed (S3). When the analyzed object is a part of speech, the semantic analysis is stopped.
