PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the capacity of an auxiliary heater smaller and to improve a snow melting ability in a heat pipe system road snow melting device utilizing terrestrial heat and auxiliary heat source. ;SOLUTION: This heat pipe system road snow melting device to utilize terrestrial heat and an auxiliary heat source is constructed in such a form as the lower end heat absorbing part 7 of a heat pipe 6 is inserted into an under ground heat source, and the upper end radiating part 16 of the heat pipe is buried just under a road surface 3, and in addition, an auxiliary heater 9 is provided under ground near the lower end heat absorbing part 7. The lower end heat absorbing part 7 and the auxiliary heater 9 are unitedly wrapped up by a heat transfer member 13 composed of material higher in thermal conductivity than the ground 4 having the buried heat pipe 6 so as to be able to mutually receive and give the heat. In addition, heat insulating parts 14, 15 lower in thermal conductivity than the ground 4 are provided between a middle part 8 in the longitudinal direction of the heat pipe 6 and the ground 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
