PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method that can accurately evaluate the toughness of a welding structure merely by gathering a minute sample, and the welding structure that can exhibit superior toughness by supplying the method. ;SOLUTION: For one sample being gathered from the welding part of a welding structure, ductility-toughness transition is measured by a compact punch test. For a member being welded by using the same welding material as the welding part and a material to be welded, the correlation between the ductility- toughness transition temperature being measured by a compact punch test and impact absorption energy being obtained by the Charpy impact test is obtained, and the correlation is compared with a measurement value obtained from the welding part of the welding structure, thus evaluating the toughness of the welding structure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
