PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a corrosion resistant material covering a joined part outer surface by plasticizing the metal in a weld zone with a work subjected to friction agitation welding along a joining part, causing the plastic flow of a corrosion resistant material along the outer surface of a welding part and causing metallurgical joining between the corrosion resistant material and a part of a plasticized metal. ;SOLUTION: Works 10, 12 are arranged with abutting its edges, the outer face of joining parts are covered by a strip 26 of corrosion resistant material. A weld zone is plasticized by the friction heat brought with an rotating agitation pin 16. A fine structure of the weld zone metal, though corrosion resistance is deteriorated due to heat in welding, is made of the strip 26 of a corrosion resistant material. The shoulder 28 of a friction agitation welding tool 14 is friction engaged to the strip 26 of corrosion resistance, the plastic flow of corrosion resistant material is caused on a joining part outer surface thus metallurgical joining is generated in the weld zone. A welding joined part contains a corrosion resistant material zone covering the surface, the corrosion resistant material zone does not expose the metal in the weld zone to an corrosive environment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
