PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sea-island type conjugate staple fiber by bringing the solubility parameter (SP value) of a sea component adjacent to the SP value of a polymeric polymer A being an island component, consequently raising the adhesiveness between the sea component and the island component, hardly causing a fibril at the bent part of the fiber in crimping, having excellent process passage hardly causing release and split in the length direction even after card treatment or needle punching treatment. ;SOLUTION: This sea-island type conjugate fiber comprises a polyethylene as a sea component and a polymeric polymer A as an island component in the section of the fiber. A thermoplastic polymer being a block copolymer composed of a conjugated diene-based block B having ≥80% hydrogenation ratio and an aromatic vinyl polymer block C in which the block C amounts to 10-50 wt.% is contained in the sea component. The content of the block copolymer in the polyethylene being the sea component is 1-50 wt.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
