PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-gap discharge element which is easily manufactured at a high yield and facilitates setting of discharge characteristics in details.;SOLUTION: A micro-gap discharge element includes a sectionally circular insulating core 11 with a conductive film 12 formed on the surface, a first helical gap 15 in a grooved shape with the conductive film 12 helically and linearly defective to expose the surface of the insulating core 11, a second helical gap 17 in a grooved shape with the conductive film 12 helically and linearly defective in opposition to the helical direction of the first helical gap 15 to expose the surface of the insulating core 11 and crossing the first helical gap 15 in plural required points, and electrodes 14, 14 fixed to both ends of the insulating core 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
