PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of saving administrative cost and maintenance cost in the view point of operation and maintenance by decreasing the number of equipments and providing instruments to simplify a plant. ;SOLUTION: This sulfur trioxide absorbing scrubber is a packing layer type scrubber for absorbing sulfur trioxide into sulfuric acid to remove by allowing a gaseous mixture of SO2 with SO3 sent from a sulfur combustion furnace to contact with circulated sulfuric acid. The scrubber is constituted of an upper stage packing layer 4a for mainly cooling SO2 gas and a lower packing layer 4b for mainly removing SO3 and low temp. sulfuric acid and high temp. sulfuric acid are circulated respectively in the upper packing layer 4a and the lower packing layer 4b.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
