PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a precursor useful for forming a compound for stimulating a sense organ, a masking agent and an antimicrobial compound in its decomposition by using a β,γ-unsaturated δ-keto ester. ;SOLUTION: A compound of the formula (R1 is a radical of an alcohol of the formula R1OH or the like; R2 to R6 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aromatic radical or the like) such as (3-oxo-2- pentyl-cyclopent-1-enyl)acetic acid methyl ester is used. The compound of the formula is mostly or almost odorless under atmospheric conditions at 20-100% relative humidity but the compound is cleft under activated conditions to form one or more active compounds of a ketone (e.g. 2-hexyl-cyclopent-2-en-1-one, or the like) and/or an aldehyde and/or an alcohol having sense organ stimulating properties and/or an antimicrobial properties.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
