PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array waveguide diffraction grating which permits the alignment of the direction of waveguides to the crystal axis of a substrate and facilitate layout design.;SOLUTION: This array waveguide diffraction grating comprises ≥1 pieces of optical waveguides 102 for input, a first slab waveguide 103 which is connected to ≥1 pieces of the optical waveguides 102 for input, an array optical waveguide 105 which is the array optical waveguide connected to the first slab waveguide and consists of plural pieces of optical waveguides made successively longer in waveguide lengths, a second slab waveguide 106 which is connected to the array optical waveguide and ≥1 pieces of optical waveguides 108 for output which are connected to the second slab waveguide. The first slab waveguide has a first light reflection structure 104 which reflects the incident light from the optical waveguides for output to the array optical waveguide.
