PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute data transfer in an enhanced data transfer rate without coming into contact with limitation on the operation of a bus interface by minimizing the data hold time for a receiver and controlling the data effective hold time for a transmitter to give the maximum setup time margin. ;SOLUTION: A PC system 10 includes a CPU 12 connected to a RAM 14 and a ROM 16 through a processor bus 18. Data transfer for each command is carried out by a series of synchronous DMA buses on a bus. In such a case, a data transfer rate for synchronous or ultra DMA transfer is enhanced by means of the control of a data effective hold time for a receiver. The combination of two hold times gives the minimum setup time margin or difference which enables the increase of a data transfer rate. When the holding time of the receiver is minimized to about 0 nanosecond and the hold time and setup time of a transmitter is reduced, the data transfer rate for synchronous DMA burst is more enhanced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
