PRODUCTION OF ARTIFICIAL AGGREGATE AND ARTIFICIAL AGGREGATE OBTAINED BY THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an unbaked type artificial aggregate having high strength, high qualities and a low water absorption ratio by using an additive which is simply and inexpensively producible, readily obtainable and inexpensive and to obtain an artificial aggregate produced by this method. SOLUTION: Coal ash is mixed with calcium sulfate and at least one selected from three kinds of cement, calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide and ground into =15 micron, preferably =10 micron average particle diameter. The ground material is, if necessary, mixed with a blowing agent and water, slurried, cast into a mold, cured and semihardened. The obtained semihardened material is molded into a fixed size, then cured with steam under high pressure to give a hardened material. Then a waterproofing agent is added to the surface of the hardened material, which is dried to give the objective artificial aggregate.
