The present invention relates to compositions and methods usable in the prevention of colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal epithelial cancers. The composition comprises an enantiomerically stable R-NSAID or pharmaceutically stable salt thereof in an amount effective to provide a chemoprotective effect, substantially free of the S-enantiomer of said R-NSAID. The method comprises administering the composition to a mammal.
