"PROCESSES TO CHANGE THE FUNCTION AND COMPOSITION OF THE ANIMAL'S GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT (GIT), TO INCREASE THE GLUCAGON-LIKE PEPTIDE-1 (GLP-1) SECRETATION IN AN ANIMAL'S GASTROINTESTINAL (GIT) TREATMENT, TO IMPROVE THE NUTRITION IN THE GASTROINTESTINAL TREATMENT (GIT) OF AN ANIMAL AND TO TREAT AN ANIMAL SUFFERING WITH EXOCRINE PANCREATIC INSUFFICIENCY (PPE) ". Process to feed an animal with a diet that alters the function and morphology of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), a large lymphoid organ of the animal, and that improves glucose metabolism, society and nutrient absorption. The process involves feeding a pet animal, such as, for example, a dog or cat, with a diet of a pet food composition containing fermentable fibers, which have a disappearance of organic matter (OMD) of 15 to 60 cent when fermented by fecal bacteria for a period of 24 hours, the fibers being present in an amount of about 1 to 11 percent by weight of the total supplementary dietary fiber. The animal is kept on a diet for a sufficient period of time to allow fermentable fibers to ferment in the animal's GIT.
