A cloth (1) is placed on two supporting elements (2, 3) separated from each other, where at least one prestressed fiber (4, 5) is situated above the cloth (1) within a space extending between opposite edges of the supporting elements (2, 3). The supporting elements (2, 3) move in the direction toward each other at the same instant when the elastic fiber (4) or fibers (4, 5) move downward in the space between the supporting elements (2, 3) that are in contact with the cloth (1) and at a velocity that is in accordance with velocity at which the supporting elements (2, 3) move toward each other until at least one of the supporting element (2, 3) opposite edges nearing toward each other achieves the elastic fiber (4, 5) path, where those parts of the cloth (1) that are in mutual contact after the supporting elements (2, 3) achieved mutual combination state are connected together along a line extending in transverse direction with respect to the direction of movement of the supporting elements (2, 3). The apparatus for making the above described process comprises two movable supporting elements (2, 3) moving counter each other and further a rotary disk (6) with articulated mechanisms (10, 11, 12) being kinetically coupled with supporting elements (2a through 2f; 3a through 3f) located on the circumference thereof, as well as guide elements (7) for movement of the elastic fiber (4, 5).
