Bolus for supplying Biologically Beneficial Substances to Ruminant Animals

A bolus for a ruminant animal in which two bodies of a binding substance incorporating a beneficial substance such as vitamin E are incorporated into a tube (dissolving or disintegrating in the reticulo-rumen) to facilitate oral administration, the two bodies being strung together to aid retention in the reticulo-rumen when released from the tube. A preferred bolus has bodies of a binding substance such as a resin from which the vitamin E and/or other beneficial substance is gradually released by leaching over a period of retention in the reticulo-rumen stomach of at least one week. A preferred bolus body has a wax or other coating which gradually abrades away in the reticulo-rumen.
