Quantitative nucleic acid assay (called Mass-based Alternative for Detection of Nucleic Acids (MADONA)), comprises using a chromatographic and/or electrophoretic separation techniques to measure the molecular weight increase of a labeled probe as a result of specific hybridization with target nucleic acid.
