A milk mineral composition obtained from milk and a method for producing the same. The milk mineral composition contained the components in the ratio of 0.48 ³ log {(amount of calcium in composition)/(amount of magnesium in composition)} and -0.30 [ log {amount of calcium in composition)/(amount of sodium in composition)}. The method was further characterised in that the permeate was obtained by filtering milk with an ultra-filtration (UF) membrane and further filtered with nano-filtration (NF) membrane to remove monovalent minerals and concentrated to remove lactose by crystallization, after which the resulting liquid is concentrated and/or dried. The resulting milk mineral composition has a calcium-magnesium ratio and high solubility and can thus be added to drinks or food products for mineral fortification.
