The seat insert (20) comprises a one-piece hollow body (22) which, e.g. can be produced from a fibre compound material. The hollow body has a base which has the shape of an horizontally located U, an upper part (26), likewise with the shape of an horizontal U, and whose edges are arranged vertically over the edges of the base (24). It also has a side wall (28) joining the edges of the base and the upper part. The side wall is vertically arranged and closed in a ring shape. The rear area (30) of the U-shaped upper part forming the crossbeam of the U is formed as a rectangle, being arched concavely and formed as the locating surface for the seat of the pilot.
