Biologically pure culture of a lactic bacterium strain L. acidophilus CNCMI-1225 selected for its abilities to implant in an intestinal flora, adhesion to intestinal cells, competitive exclusion of pathogenic bacteria on intestinal cells, immunomodulation and/or reduction in fecal enzyme activity. Culture can be processed to an agent which contains a culture and a carrier, which is a pharmaceutical carrier or foodstuff product. Said agent is suitable for the treatment and prophylaxis of fecal enzyme activities mostly.
