RF COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM OPERABLE IN THE PRESENCE OF A REPETITIVE INTERFERENCE SOURCE AND RELATED METHODS

An RF communication system (10) for operating of a repetitive RF interference sourcepowered from an AC power line (16). The system uses redundant transmission synchronized tothe power line (16) to ensure accurate reception by a second drive. The RF communicationsystem (10) comprises a first device powered from an AC power line (16) which also powersthe repetitive RF interference source. The first device, comprises an RF transmitter (33) fortransmitting in a frequency band of the repetitive RF interference source, a power line sensor(31), and a data transmit controller (32), which generates a plurality of data packets with eachdata packet including an error detecting portion. The data transmit controller (32) alsooperates the RF transmitter (33) to produce repetitive first and second transmissions of a samedata packet responsive to the power line sensor (31). At least one of the first and secondtransmissions occurs during an OFF period of the repetitive RF interference source. Thesecond device also includes a data receive controller.
