Flip type mobile phone with position detector for flip part, contains monitoring device and timer to monitor on and off hook signals to prevent accidental disconnection when flip part is being opened

A monitoring device inside the phone is used to detect an off-hook signal when the flip part is open, in order to establish a call and subsequent off-hook signal generated by the device used to detect the position of the flip part. A timer activated by an off-hook signal controls the monitoring device so that it treats the subsequent on-hook signal in order to terminate the call only if this signal is detectable after a pre-selected period indicated by the timer, after the off-hook signal is detected. An Independent claim is also included for a method for preventing an incoming call to a mobile phone being accidentally terminated if the flip part is closed again whilst being opened, using the above system.
