DNA molecules and promoters and structural genes encoding the lyase Pecato strawberry, and their use in obtaining transgenic strawberries. DNA sequences and promoters gene coding for strawberry pectate lyase are provided. Such DNA and promoters have applications in the biotechnological production of plants of agronomic interest, particularly transgenic strawberries.
