Automatic system for identification, authentication and ongoing verification of the identity of the speaker in voice transmissions via generic communications networks

The commercial development of services which use telephone networks as transmission support has traditionally been limited by the fact that it was impossible conveniently to identify the caller, in an ongoing manner, with legal validity and without this involving excess complexity or the need for excessive additional infrastructure. The purpose of the invention is to make it possible to identify the speaker and to affirm said identification transparently and continuously throughout the communication, in a transparent, automatic manner which is independent of the type of and services offered by the communications network. To this end, the audio signal S.1 has inserted in it a sequence of identification data S.2 which are stored on a smart card 2 by means of steganographic techniques for non-linear insertion as components which are not audibly perceptible T.2, T.4 and T.5, which prevent the sequence being audible, capable of being changed or removable.
