The invention provides an information datarecording and reproducing device which can record andreproduce input information data accurately. An errorcorrection code of the product sign format is added tothe input information data to form coded data. Thecoded data are then NRZI converted and recorded onto arecord medium together with identification data of apredetermined data pattern. Error detecting andcorrecting processing is executed with reproduction dataobtained from the record medium to reproduce the datarecorded on the record medium. The device comprises anNRZI converting circuit for outputting the informationdata as they are without NRZI converting the same butfor NRZI converting the coded data using the last bit ofthe identification data as an initial value, and amemory controlling circuit for controlling writing andreading of a memory, which is provided to convert thereproduction data from a series of inner codes intoanother series of outer codes, so that write addressinformation for the memory which is obtained from thereproduction data may be compensated for when it is notobtained properly and outer code error detecting andcorrecting processing may be executed without a trouble.
