A silver halide photographic material having improved heat sensitivity comprising a red sensitive silver halide emulsion layer the silver halide of which is prepared in the presence of a hexacoordination complex of rhenium, ruthenium or osmium with at least four cyanide ligands and comprising at least about 90 mole percent silver chloride, wherein the emulsion contains a thiosulfonate and a sulfinate or seleninate and at least one red sensitizing dye.
