UV-resistant electrochromic systems with a gel electrolyte with an immobilized UV absorber in a layer structure containing a layer of conductive electrochromic polydioxythiophen and another layer of metal oxide-type ionic reservoir(s). UV-resistant electrochromic systems with a UV-resistant gel electrolyte containing an immobilized UV absorber in a layer structure, in which one layer consists of electrically conductive, electrochromic polydioxy-thiophen (PDOT) and another layer consists of metal oxide-type ionic reservoir(s) of formula Me1O2, Me22O5, LixMe1O2, LixMe22O5, LixMe1Oa, LixMe22Ob, Me3O, Me3Ox, MxMe3O, MxMe3O2, MxMe3Oy, Me4O3, MxMe4O3, MxMe4cMe4xO3, Me3)OH)2, Me3O(OH), MMe3O2, Me3O2, Me32O3, Me32O3.H2O and/or LiMe5O3 (formulae I-XXI respectively), in which Me1 = a Sub-Group III, IV or V metal, preferably zirconium, cerium or titanium; Me2 = as for Me1, preferably vanadium or niobium; Me3 = a Sub-Group VI or VIII metal, preferably nickel or iridium; Me4 = as for Me3, preferably molybdenum or tungsten; Me5 = a Sub-Group V metal, preferably vanadium, niobium or tantalum; M = preferably a Main Group I metal or a proton; x, y = 0.001-5; a = 2 + x/2; b = 5 + x/2; c = 1 - x.
