Nuclear reactor plant comprising a pressure vessel (1), with a base (9) which acts as the floor of a pre-chamber (11) for the capture of a molten core, following an accident. To the side of the pressure vessel (1) is an expansion chamber (19) for the molten core. The base (9) and the floor of the expansion chamber are part of a concrete structure (5). The region bordering the base (9) and the expansion chamber floor is penetrated by a large number of cooling tubes (23).
