NUCLEAR PHOSPHOPROTEINS FOR PROGNOSTICATING LYMPHOID OR EPITHELIAL CANCERS

The present invention suggests that phosphoproteins (32KD, 35KD and 42KD) of three mammalian nuclei are useful for the diagnosis and prognosis of tumors derived from lymphoid and epithelial cells. These three proteins are immunologically correlated. The expression levels of these proteins correlate with the malignant potential of lymphoid and epithelial tumors. In some cases, the distribution of cell levels of these proteins is indicative of malignant potential. Antibodies reactive with these proteins are presented as diagnostic vessels, and nucleic acid probes and primers for quantifying messenger RNAs encoding the proteins are presented. A method of making and purifying these proteins is also shown.
