EXTRACTING METHOD OF OPTIMAL FACE AREA AND FACE RECOGNITION METHOD THEREBY

PURPOSE: A sampling method of the best face area is provided to improve the face recognizing efficiency by fixing the interval rate between the peak-to-peak interval of a gabor filter used in the face recognition and the characteristic of a face image. CONSTITUTION: The sampling method of the best face area comprises the steps of: finding the position of a certain characteristic from the inputted face image; sampling the face area which does not include the hair and the background from the position of a characteristic; converting the size of the sampled face area to maintain a certain ratio with the peak-to-peak of a gabor filter; and increasing the contrast of the sampled face area.
