PURPOSE: Titanium dioxide ultrafine powder is provided which prevents impure titanium hydroxide easily formed due to the characteristics of titanium tetrachloride from being precipitated and gains the excellent primary particles of titanium dioxide in terms of particle size and crystallinity. CONSTITUTION: The process compromises the steps of:(1) Adding ice water to a titanium tetrachloride undiluted solution to produce not less than 1.5M titanyl chloride solution; (2) Adding distilled water to the titanyl chloride solution to dilute to a proper concentration; (3) Keeping the diluted titanyl chloride solution at 15-155C to obtain a precipitate; and (4) Filtering, washing and drying the precipitate.
