PURPOSE: A method for preventing hunting phenomenon in a low-price camera system and an apparatus for doing the same are provided to prevent hunting phenomenon. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing hunting phenomenon in a low-price camera system includes the following steps. At the first step, a brightness signal is detected from pictured image signal. At the second step, the brightness signal is integrated. At the third step, an average of the integrated value is calculated. At the forth step, a difference between the average and a reference value is calculated. at the fifth step, whether the difference is in an error range is determined. At the sixth step, count is increased by one when the difference is in the range. At the seventh step, the gain of the low-price camera system or a shutter value is calculated according to the result of the preceding steps. At the eighth step, the counter is decreased by one when the difference is out of the range of error. At the ninth step, the gain of the low-price camera system or a shutter value is calculated when the counted is 0. At the tenth step, the preceding steps are repeated.
