DECONTAMINANT FOR RADIOACTIVE SURFACE CONTAMINATION AND THE METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A clay decontamination agent and a purifying method using the same is provided to effectively purify a surface contaminated by radioactivity. CONSTITUTION: The clay decontamination agent for purifying a surface contaminated by radioactivity contains a clay as a main component, an ion which may be changed with a nuclide contaminated by radioactivity, and an aqueous polymer. This clay decontamination agent has a viscosity below 0.5dyne s/cm2 at the shear rate above 1000s-1. The clay decontamination agent comprises clay powder of 10weight percent, exchangeable ion of 0.04-3.5weight percent which is selected from the group of ammonium hydroxide and ammonium chloride, exchangeable ion of 0.1-0.5weight percent which is selected from the group of sodium carbonate and sodium chloride, the aqueous polymer of 0.4-0.7weight percent which is selected from the group of vinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyethylene glycol and a balance of water.
