The container has lids (2) which are arranged on top of the container body (1). The lids are supported on axles (4) which run across the entire width of container, and which are supported in axle bearings (3). An intermediate frame (5) is swingably fixed to the axle (4). Further axle bearings (6) are located on the intermediate frame, with their associated axles (7) being equi-directional with the main axles (4). A locking device (8) is provided on the intermediate frame in order to lock it to the container lid.
